Are you pregnant or have a friend that is pregnant experiencing this kind of pain?

Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD or pelvic girdle pain) involves discomfort at the front or back of the pelvic joints and is one of the most common issues we see in our office. (According to The Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association, 31.7% of pregnant women have experienced SPD!)    The pubic symphysis helps keep the pelvis together and steady, and during pregnancy, the ligaments become stretchy or relaxed, which can lead to instability, discomfort, or a shooting or aching pain in the pelvic joint and other areas of the lower body.   Ongoing chiropractic adjustments to optimize the pelvic and spinal position is an excellent way to ease your pregnancy discomfort woes ☺️. Dr. Emily Burgess utilizes the Webster Technique and ready to help! (The Webster Technique is a diagnostic system and specific pregnancy chiropractic adjustment.)  There are also a few things you can do at home to ease discomfort: 🛌  Sleep with a pillow between your knees 🤰 Avoid sitting for too long ❄️  Apply an ice pack to the pelvic area 🏃‍♀️  Stay active but avoid activities that cause pain 👟  Wear supportive shoes 🚙  Keep your knees together when getting in and out of the car or rolling over in bed 💪  Perform Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles

February – Heart Health Awareness

February is American Heart Month ❤️ Serving as a vital reminder of the significance of cardiovascular health.   💡Did you know that chiropractic care plays a crucial role in promoting heart health by alleviating stress and enhancing nervous system function?   ❤️ The spine serves as the central hub of the nervous system, exerting a profound influence on overall bodily function, including the cardiovascular system. Through targeted spinal adjustments, chiropractors address misalignments or subluxations, fostering optimal nervous system communication. 👉🏻 For instance, blood pressure regulation heavily relies on the activity of the autonomic nervous system—the intricate network of signals between our brains and bodies that govern essential functions like breathing and digestion.   ❤️ By correcting musculoskeletal issues that impede circulation, chiropractic adjustments facilitate improved blood flow throughout the body. This enhanced circulation not only benefits the cardiovascular system but also bolsters the body’s capacity to supply vital oxygen and nutrients to cells and tissues.   Incorporating regular chiropractic care into your wellness routine can significantly contribute to a healthier heart and a happier, more vibrant you! ❤️

Difference Between Acupuncture And Dry Needling

Difference Between Acupuncture And Dry Needling  Let’s break it down1.Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) modality. It works with the meridians or energy (chi) channels across the body. Acupuncture has beenaround for thousands of years! 2. Dry needling quickly gained popularity in the last decade. Whereas acupuncturists must train for 3-4 years, dry needling practitioners attend training thatvaries in length. If you’re looking to “release that tight knot” in your shoulder➡dry needling will target that spotdirectly. This technique is used widely in chiropractic and physical therapy offices. If you’re looking for a holistic and energy balancing experience that will assist your nervoussystem⤵Then acupuncture is what you’re looking for! Both are wonderful options to improve your health goals, and knowing the difference betweenthe two, may help you decide which modality to use.  . Acupuncture and dry needling Acupuncture and dry needling are two distinct therapeutic techniques that involve the insertionof thin needles into the skin, but they differ in their origins, principles, and applications. Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medicine practice with a history of thousands of years, isfounded on the concept of Qi, an energy that flows through meridians in the body. By insertingneedles at specific points along these meridians, acupuncturists aim to rebalance the flow of Qi,addressing a wide array of conditions like pain, digestive issues, and emotional imbalances. Dry needling, in contrast, is a modern technique based on Western anatomical andneurophysiological principles. It targets trigger points—hyperirritable spots in musclesassociated with pain and dysfunction—by inserting needles to release muscle tension andimprove range of motion. It is commonly used to manage musculoskeletal issues such aschronic pain, muscle strains, and headaches. In essence, while both acupuncture and dry needling use needles for therapeutic purposes, acupuncture is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and seeks to balance Qi flow, while dry needling focuses on releasing muscle tension and enhancing physical function basedon Western anatomical concepts. See your chiropractor to get checked and adjusted!

See your chiropractor to get checked and adjusted! As December unfolds and the holiday season is in full swing, we hope you’re enjoying a wonderful start to the month. Amidst the hustle and bustle of festive gatherings and the flurry of activities that accompany this time of year, it’s not uncommon for our immune systems to take a hit, leaving many families and children vulnerable to illness. If you or your child are navigating the challenges of a cold or flu during this season, we’re here to help. In this newsletter, we’ve gathered some valuable tips to help you combat these seasonal ailments and ensure you sail through the holiday season feeling your absolute best. At Home Care for your child’s cold/flu  1. Warm Compress: Gently apply a warm compress to the child’s ear to help alleviate ear pain and pressure. 2. Saline Nasal Drops: Use saline nasal drops to help clear nasal congestion. Saline drops can be used to moisten and loosen mucus. 3. Steam: Create a steamy environment in the bathroom by running a hot shower and sitting with the child in the steamy room for 10 minutes. 4. Elevate Head: Elevating the child’s head while sleeping can help with sinus drainage and reduce congestion. 5. Hydration: Ensure the child stays well-hydrated by offering plenty of fluids like water, clear broths, or diluted fruit juices. Hydration is essential for thinning mucus. 6. Rest: Make sure the child gets enough rest to help their body recover and heal. 7. Honey: If the child is over one year old, you can consider giving them a small amount of honey (about half a teaspoon) before bedtime, as it may help soothe a sore throat and cough. 8. Probiotics: Some studies suggest that probiotics might help boost the immune system. We like Garden of Life RAW probiotics, OLLY Kids Multi + Probiotic, and Florastor Kids Daily. 9. Over-the-counter: Free from paraben, dyes, and unnecessary preservatives, we suggest Wellements Organic Day and Night Baby Cough Syrup, Wellements Day and Nighttime Children’s Cough, and Wellements Organic Elderberry Pops.  10. Avoid Irritants: Keep the child away from smoke and other irritants that could worsen respiratory symptoms.  11. Eliminate Dairy: Milk and dairy products such as cheese are mucus producing. Eliminating or reducing this will help secretions stay thin and easier to clear. 12. Eliminate Sugar: When you have congestion, there’s already thick mucus in your nose and throat, making it hard to breathe and causing discomfort. Sugar can make this mucus even thicker, which can make congestion feel more uncomfortable and harder to clear. Reduce or eliminate sugar as much as possible.  See your chiropractor to get checked and adjusted!  Lastly, consider having them checked and adjusted! If your baby or kids are unwell or experiencing symptoms like sinus congestion or respiratory inflammation due to a cold or flu, it’s a good idea to consult with us to assess their nervous system. Your immune system, which is closely connected to your lymphatic system, is regulated by your nervous system. If the nervous system isn’t functioning correctly or is under stress, it can significantly impact your body’s ability to combat colds, viruses, the flu, and other factors that can lower immunity. This can result in slower healing, longer-lasting symptoms, and disrupted sleep and activity patterns.  Chiropractic care for infants and children is a gentle and delicate procedure. It involves applying light, targeted pressure to specific points along their spine, similar to a gentle baby massage. Just like in adults, these adjustments are aimed at promoting overall well-being. Newborns and young children can experience tension and stress in their tiny bodies for various reasons, including the birthing process, the mother’s health, and environmental factors. Chiropractic care helps address and alleviate these

Laser therapy delivers specific red and near-infrared wavelengths of laser light to induce a therapeutic effect within the body. These include increased circulation, decreased swelling, reduction of pain, and enhanced tissue repair. Laser therapy has been used in Europe since the 1970s and was cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 2002. Therapeutic Effects The painless application of laser energy promotes increased circulation by drawing oxygen and nutrients to the affected area. This creates an optimal healing environment reducing inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, pain is relieved, and function is restored. Does It Hurt? What Does a Treatment Feel Like? There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels a mild, soothing warmth or tingling sensation. Areas of pain or inflammation may be briefly sensitive before pain reduction. Are There Any Side Effects or Associated Risks? During more than twenty years of use by healthcare providers all over the world, very few side effects have ever been reported. Occasionally, some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment. How many treatments does it take? This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions, 4 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 6 to 12 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain. How long before the results are felt? You may feel improvement in your condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement after several treatments. This does not mean that the condition is not improving. Each treatment is cumulative, and results are often felt after 3 or 4 sessions. Conditions Laser Therapy Can Help With: High-power laser therapy can stimulate all cell types, including soft tissue, ligaments, cartilage, and nerves. Some conditions that have been shown to respond well to laser therapy include:• Peripheral Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia• Back and Neck Pain• Sciatic Pain• Arthritis pain, Degenerative Discs/Joints• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome• Knee Problems• Tendinitis, Trigger Fingers • Bunion Pains, Plantar Fasciitis • Sprains and/or Strains • Bruises, Contusions, Burns • Headaches, TMJ, Sinus Trouble • Athletic Injuries • Work-Related and Auto Injuries “I am so glad we found Dr.Emily for our families chiropractic care!
